S.A. cricketer Hansie Cronje, 32

Disgraced former South African cricketer Hansie Cronje was killed in a plane crash yesterday.

Cronje, 32, was infamous for the betting scandal that rocked world cricket in 1999 and for which he was banned from the game for life two years ago.

He was killed with two other occupants of the light plane while travelling between his home town of Bloemfontein and George, 500km east of Cape Town, in South Africa.

The plane crashed into Cradock Peak, a mountain about 15km from George in the far south of the country. …
